Message from the Supervisory Board of Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam

Change of the guard at Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam upcoming!

Our director Rein Schuddeboom will be enjoying a well-deserved retirement effective May 15, 2025. Rein – with the support of the team – has meant an enormous amount to Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam and thus to the beautiful development of Rotterdam’s inner city ports. This will be discussed at length when the time comes.

We already started the search for a suitable successor last year. Based on a recalibrated profile, a vacancy was posted to which many responses were received. After a careful selection process, a suitable candidate was finally found.

We are pleased to inform you that Bart Verkade will join Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam on February 1, 2025 and will formally take over as director on May 1, 2025. The period in between will be used for further familiarization and transfer of business.

Bart is certainly no stranger to and with the world of inland navigation, sailing heritage and heritage ports from various previous roles and positions. In addition, he brings the necessary political-administrative and policy-strategic experience. Previously, he has gotten to know our organization well as a support project manager on a number of files.

Unfortunately, on doctor’s advice, Rein must currently rest until further notice. Therefore, Bart will (for now) immediately act as the first point of contact for our employees and relations.

We wish Rein a speedy recovery and, of course, Bart enjoyment and success in his new position!

On behalf of the Supervisory Board of the Rotterdam Heritage Ports Foundation,

Jeroen Kuyper (chairman)
