Introduction to Rens Gerritsen

In recent years, I’ve often had to introduce myself for various projects I’ve taken on with my company, Rosma-Marine, but now I’m facing the challenge of introducing myself as the new shipyard manager for the Koningspoort.

My name is Rens Gerritsen. I’m 34 years old, the father of two boys, and I live with Jolijn in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht.

Some of you may know me from the period between 2010 and 2015, when I lived on my tugboat, the Roma, in the Oude Haven as a student. It’s been 10 years since then; I’ve completed my degree in Maritime Engineering and have several years of experience as a Technical Superintendent and Project Manager in shipbuilding.

Working on and with the Koningspoort feels like going back to my roots. My passion for ships began aboard the tugboat Rosa (1912) and later led me to purchase the tugboat Roma (1926). I want to use the knowledge I’ve gained at modern shipyards to ensure that the Koningspoort remains available for historic commercial vessels and houseboats well into the future.
