“Everything.” That is the short but powerful answer of the owner of the “Veinard” when asked what she has done to the ship. When she bought it, it was in a dilapidated state and had nothing on board. She has been working on it for about fifteen years and, to be honest, a ship is never really “finished.

As a freighter, it served until 1991 and until then it sailed mainly in Belgium and France. The beautiful shape, wide gunwales and simple design appealed most to the current owner in the vessel. She doesn’t sail it anymore, but she wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

“The shape of the ship almost feels like an embrace,” she says. “You have contact with the outside, the light movement feels very pleasant and you have a lot of space. Moreover, living in the Maritime District feels like living in a village in the middle of the city.” Today, the “Veinard” serves as a “bed and breakfast ship.
