Through Grace – IJsselaak

The “Door Gunst Verkregen” launched as “Eben Haeser” (“So far the Lord has helped us”) and in 1930 was even involved in the filling of Rotterdam’s Coolsingel – right around the corner here. As a sand ship, it served until 1953 and the current owner bought it in 2000.

He had been looking for years for a restoration ship with an installation to load and unload himself. The ship even had a side propeller which made it even more special. So the owner quickly looked through the totally neglected state of the ship.

Over five years, he restored the entire ship and it is now used at all kinds of events to show how sand used to be transported and unloaded by ship. Therefore, it is a great desire of the owner that the ship be used for this purpose for many years to come. A second great desire is to take a long trip on the French canals and rivers. But whether sand will go with it?
