Salvator

The Salvator is a tugboat built since 1887 for international navigation on the Rhine. Probably the ship was named after the “Salvatorkirche” in Cologne. Towing ships were pulled by horses and steam tugs ‘to berg’ (upstream). The ship never had an engine. Downstream they sometimes sailed under their own power, the so-called steaming. Today, the ship serves as an office for Oosterschelde Shipping Company. From the shipping office, the interests of both three-masted schooner OOSTERSCHELDE and two-masted Stevenaak HELENA are looked after.
