The “Roan” is still in exceptionally original condition. For example, look at the wooden hatch cover. On almost all old cargo ships, it has disappeared to make way for aluminum hatches, but not on this ship. Furthermore, the paneling in the deckhouse (that’s the name of the living quarters on a ship) is still completely authentic and luxurious with cut glass and marble.
Living on a ship also has a practical reason for the owners of the Roan: they are musicians and this way they do not disturb their neighbors when they practice their instruments at home. That is very convenient! Furthermore, it is of course very nice that you can sail to different places with your complete house.
Because a stern like the Roan is built specifically for the French canals and locks, a dream voyage through France is once again on the cards. “You can basically sail all the way to the Mediterranean. It would be nice if that’s ever going to happen.”
