The Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam provide light in the dark days of the year.
At our moorings, a total of 180 historic vessels, we, in cooperation with the Liggersvereniging VSWR (ship residents), hang as many light cords as possible in the masts.
We are proud of our ships and like to put them in the light, in doing so we also dress up the city and provide an atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
Nearly all the laymen agree to donate Heritage Harbors’ electricity fee to the “Lights for Sophia” campaign.
We will organize a joint ignition moment, in this case on Nov. 11, 8 p.m. Beforehand, this includes the dinghy parade, festively lit this year will sail to Vessel 11, where the ignition moment will take place. (Where better to host a festival of lights than a former lightship.)
The festival of lights coincides with St. Martin’s Day. So an excellent opportunity to combine a neighborhood lantern parade with the festival of lights.
Start of the boat parade and lantern parade is at 19:00 in the old harbor at ERVAAR ROTTERDAM under the cube houses on the Gelderse kade.
At the moment when the parade meets on foot and with boats at the lightship, we will hand out Silent Disco headphones, where around 8 p.m. our neighbor Tyler Koudijzer of the company Barguijs will give a spoken word reading. He is no stranger to our community, his previous recitation was in Square 1940 on King’s Day for our King and Queen.
Afterwards, we will have the opportunity to welcome local residents and boaters to the belly of Vessel 11, where the bar will be open for refreshments and mulled wine and hot chocolate will be distributed. There will also be something for the littlest ones to snack on.
In cooperation with Vessel 11, Ervaar Rotterdam, Maritime District Foundation, mooring association VSWR and Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam, we try to create a cozy moment for the neighborhood with the use of resources and volunteers.
